How would you spend your day if you knew it was the last day you would spend on earth?

Yo! “they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in the clouds’ with great power and glory…”  (Mark 13:26)

Some people think that we should give until it hurts.  However, true stewards give until it feels right.  Our giving feels right when we know that we can stand before God when He comes in His glory and say to Him, “Lord, I gave all that You asked me to give.” It is about loving God and loving our neighbor.

How would you spend your day if you knew it was the last day you would spend on earth?  Undoubtedly, it would not be a normal day.  I think we love ever more deeply and try to demonstrate our love so that people knew we loved them.  Yes? The point of today’s Gospel reading is that the end-time is always imminent.  We as good stewards remain prayerfully alert, ready to give an accounting; and living each day in the awareness of  Christ’s final coming.  How do we exercise loving stewardship over our daily lives?  Are we prepared to give an accounting?  How will we allow Christ to work in and through us to prepare for the reconciliation of the heavens and the earth?  When we allow Christ to work through us we find we love God and love neighbor ever more deeply.

In faith, we trust in God’s love and mercy, and through stewardship we nurture this faith to follow Christ ever more closely.  Our service to one another begins when we observe the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves.  May we strive to grow stronger in faith and more diligent in serving God and neighbor, and may we be vigilant at all times by cherishing God’s gifts in a responsible, loving, and accountable  manner.
