Sharing our Gifts for the Glory of God

Happy New Year! –soon. This is the Feast of the Holy Family. The birth of our Savior caused us to become members of one family – the family of God. May our actions toward all humanity place us in our Father’s house.

The Holy Family is a model for us to follow in how to live in the world while journeying toward the kingdom of heaven. Parents teach and instruct their children because of their unconditional love. Children learn to obey and respect their parents and learn how to share with one another. The experience of loving and being loved starts each of us on a journey through which we seek fulfillment that can only be found in the kingdom of God.

“Beloved, see what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God.” (1 John 3:1)

During this season of giving, let’s also remember the gifts that God has given to us, including the gift of making us His children. Are we as grateful for that wonderful gift as we are for all the material gifts we have received? How do we show our gratitude to God for the gifts He gives to us all year including adopting us into His family?

We can only be holy through the grace of God. Even so, there is no holiness without some effort on our part. In striving to be holy we need to embrace the values of stewardship as part of the journey. Using and sharing our gifts for the glory of God and the service of our neighbor, serves us well in being part of God’s family and seeking to be holy,
