Have I personally experienced God’s special favor in my life?

During Jesus' baptism, heaven was opened," and the Father announced his special favor on Jesus. Whenever we partake of the body and blood of Christ, heed his call in our daily lives, share his Good News, become instruments of his transforming justice and peace, heaven is opened to us, and through the Holy Spirit, the Lord announces his special favor on us as well.

A good reflection might be: How, or in what ways, have I personally experienced God's special favor in my life?

Furthermore, if you were baptized as an infant, you will not remember the occasion. However, we do well to remember always the significance of this Sacrament. To be baptized is to be plunged into relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship calls us to discipleship. When we are anointed in baptism, we share in the priestly, prophetic, and kingly mission of Christ.

Sharing our gifts joyfully and generously is how we respond to our baptismal call to serve the people of God; speak the truth by spreading the good news; and, lead others to Christ.

Jesus' immersion in the water is a sign for all human beings of the need to die to themselves to do God's will." Once we surrender ourselves to God in this way, we will know in our hearts what else God might call us to do.

God's gift of grace which we receive in each sacrament, nourishes our faith and strengthening us to seek Jesus and follow in his footsteps. As we participate in sharing the love of God with those around us, may God make our work fruitful and allow us to grow ever closer to Him.
